So what can you do to bring about some kind of balance in a busy work/home/study/family life?
Where do you start? What are your priorities? How do you know how to even decide what these are?
A busy mum with washing, ironing, cleaning, school runs, homework, study time, working, cooking supper and family commitments. The activities never end and there is always something to do.
Well, have you stopped to think about you for a change? When was the last time you made time for you? Maybe you think you have no time to even do this perhaps?
We all have the same amount of time in a day so you can choose to plan around what is important to you, change a process/way of doing daily tasks to make life easier for you. Why keep doing a task the same way if it isn’t working? Take monthly expenditure for example and cut costs (shop around for cheaper deals), cut back (reduce spending) or cut out (remove unnecessary spending) if needed.
How about switching everything on it’s head and thinking what would happen if you weren’t able to be there to do everything because you had burnt out and over committed yourself? Is it time to put regular time aside as a priority for you - a time for reflection, putting pen to paper about what you can do to look after yourself so you can:
1. do the things which are a priority
2. delegate tasks out to others
3. stop doing the things which do not add any value to your life - often the things we think we should/ought to do which are our self-defeating beliefs. Did you know you can overcome these thoughts?
Your well-being is key to a healthy sustainable lifestyle. Build positive changes into your life to create healthy habits.
There are four dimensions to well-being which will cause an imbalance in your life if you aren’t making time for each - body, mind, spirit and social. Check-in with yourself for assessing your overall well-being regularly to sustain a balance. Have a plan if you have a relapse back into old habits. Having a healthy body will give you a healthy mind. Set goals to achieve a healthy body and mind first, so you can then focus on making the positive changes towards living a life of purpose - do what you love, love what you do.
